HOW TO REVIEW TENSES

A game to review tenses (easy to prepare)

Write the words to three sentences randomly on the board of the tense you want to review.  (eg. 1 negative sentence, 1 positive sentence and 1 question)

OR just give each group the words by speaking and the group writes them down.

 

The Activity

Students work in groups to make the sentences and the rules.

Example:

Tense of the Three Sentences:  TO BE in the present simple

Sentence                                  Rules

I am a student.                          Positive: S + am/is/are + O

I am not a student.                     Negative: S + am/is/are + not + O.

Are you a student?                     Question word + am/ is /are + S + O?

Groups which finish and have the correct answers can assist groups who are still working.
